How to be a professional food blogger

I would love to be a professional food blogger. I have a few problems with that goal. The first one is that I don't cook often enough. The second problem is that no one reads my blog! A third problem is that while I take a lot of pictures of the things I bake, they don't ever look as pretty as the pictures that I see on the food blogs that I like.

Well, today was a different story indeed. We had someone over early this morning, and I decided to be a good hostess and bake something. I thought when you have someone over early in the morning, it's probably better to fix something light and morning-ish instead of heavy and big like cupcakes. Certainly, Mr. Cute and I would have no qualms about eating early morning cupcakes, but someone coming to the house, well that's a different story.

I made this lemon blueberry bread that I found at Joy of Baking. Holy moly, was it delicious. I ate most of it. But the best part was a lemon glaze that I poured on the top. It was sweet and tart and shiny. The bread tasted great and it looked perfect.

I walked past the bread while it was cooling on the rack and I saw the way the light hit the bread. I ran for my camera and snapped a few pictures.

So there you have it. If you want to be a professional blogger, you need to bake before sunrise so that when that first morning light comes through the window, you'll be ready. Go figure. And that's my biggest obstacle to becoming a professional food blogger. Once again, 5 AM is my biggest problem. Hmm.
